FAQ

Questions and answers.

Do I need a jailbreak, root or a computer?

No. On iPhone the app uses iOS’s own developer location service through LocalDevVPN and pairs on the phone itself. On Android it uses the built-in mock location setting.

Do other apps see the new location?

Yes. The location is set system-wide by iOS or Android itself, so maps, social apps and everything else see the same spot. Nothing is injected into other apps.

Can apps tell the location is simulated?

Some can. Apps can check whether Developer Mode is on (iOS) or whether a fix came from a mock location app (Android). Realistic travel speeds and natural drift avoid the obvious teleport patterns, but no app can promise to be invisible.

Which devices are supported?

iPhone on iOS 17.4 or later, Android 8 or later, and the desktop app for Mac (macOS 11 or later) and Windows 10 and 11.

What does the desktop app do?

It spoofs your iPhone from your Mac or Windows PC over a USB cable, with nothing installed on the phone. You get the same map, Rich Spots and travel modes on a big screen, plus saved routes, GPX import and keyboard walking. On Windows it needs Apple Devices or iTunes for the iPhone driver.

How does the license work?

Buy a key on zlarp and enter it in the app. One key works on 2 devices, in any mix of iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows. You can free a device from your zlarp key page with Reset devices.

Does it work offline?

Spoofing works offline. The app checks your key with zlarp every few hours and keeps working on its last confirmed check for about a day without a connection. Search and road routes need internet.

How do I get back to my real location?

Tap the red stop button in the panel or the reset button on the map. The simulated location is cleared and the map flies back to where you really are.

Does it keep running when I close the app?

It keeps running in the background while a location is simulated. On Android you’ll see a “Spoofing” notification while it’s active.

Why does my iPhone need LocalDevVPN?

LocalDevVPN creates a local tunnel on the phone so the app can reach iOS’s developer services without a computer. Nothing leaves your phone through it.
